Famine
The Art
The Sketch
What’s Alarming
The rising global population, expected to reach 9 billion by mid-century, will result in a far greater demand for food, while climate change impacts - increasing droughts, severe heat, crop-destroying pests, heavy rains and floods and sea level rise, among other factors - may eventually reduce agricultural production by as much as 30 to 50%. The dangerous combination of increased demand and reduced supply of food could lead to "... widespread social unrest and hunger - even catastrophic global famine".
